I know it's a cliche, but honestly, I really do love being a wedding photographer. I like that all weddings are different, and I get equally excited every time I turn up to photograph a wedding, camera in hand, ready to see what lovely details I can capture. I think it helps being a female photographer, girls don't get kicked out of the room whilst the bride is getting changed!
My style is largely photojournalistic and reportage, I aim to be unobtrusive so as not to disrupt your day, although I'm also happy to be involved if you want me to. I've laced up more dresses, and fixed more buttonholes, than I can remember. I really enjoy capturing the more creative photographs of the bride and groom as well, and I think that is my favourite part of the day. I am always looking for beautiful places with amazing light to use.
The most important thing though, is YOU! It's vitally important that I click with you as a couple, and that we feel we can get along really well on the day. I want you to be able to be yourselves when I'm around. I really think that you can tell when a couple and a wedding photographer have been able to relax with each other, it shows in the resulting photographs.
On a more serious (and maybe boring!) note, I am a qualified member of the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photographers). BIPP qualifications are widely recognised as a benchmark of excellence, and this professional status gives buyers of photography confidence that the photographer has reached a certain level of expertise.
If you'd like to meet me in person, make an appointment to come and visit the studio at Newby Hall. Here you can relax with a drink (and a cake if I've been baking), and look through photograph albums and slideshows from recent weddings. It's a great chance to get to know a bit more about each other, and for us to discuss what you are looking for.
If you fancy making it a day out, there is a lovely cafe at the Hall, as well as stunning gardens and the very lavish house. Above my studio is The Treatment House, offering all kinds of pampering from manicures to mud wraps. Just ask if you'd like to me make an appointment for you, or visit the website www.thetreatmenthouse.co.uk.
Just let me know when you you'd like to visit and I will make a start on the cupcakes!
